The Why

We built the app we wished existed.

HeyArab started with a question: why does online dating mean explaining yourself from scratch every time?

The problem

If you grew up between cultures, you’ve been through this. Your name gets mangled. Nobody asks about your dialect. Religion is a checkbox, not a conversation. You match with great people and still spend the first three dates explaining where you’re from.

The big apps were built for everyone, which in practice means no one in particular. The things that make us who we are get flattened into a dropdown.

What we’re building

HeyArab is a small, careful place where being Arab is the starting point, not a line in your bio. Levantine, Khaleeji, Maghrebi, and everyone in the diaspora in between.

That means voice intros so you can hear how someone says keefak. Prompts written for us. Filters for dialect, faith, and what you’re looking for. And vouches, a few honest words from people who know you, because in our communities trust has always traveled through the people around you.

What we hold to

  • 01Culture first. Everything else is built on it.
  • 02Safety and dignity. We’d rather stay small and look after people.
  • 03Small and intentional over big and noisy.
  • 04Honesty. Real names, real photos, real intentions.
