Algerian dating app for Algerian singles in the US and Canada

You say "wesh" to your cousins, "ça va" to your aunt and "what's up" at work, and nobody outside the family can follow all three. HeyArab is an Algerian dating app where switching like that is just how people talk.

Algerian singles from Montreal to New York

Montreal is the center of Algerian life in North America. French made it the easy choice for a lot of families, and whole neighborhoods there have an Algerian bakery on the corner. Ottawa and Quebec City have communities too. In the US, Algerians live around New York and New Jersey, in the Washington DC area, in Florida and in California, often a few families to a town.

Families are Arab, Kabyle, Chaoui or a mix, and plenty of people grew up hearing Tamazight from a grandmother. On HeyArab you can add Amazigh as your community next to Algeria as your country of origin. Religion is on profiles too, and you choose whether to show it.

Darija, French and English in one voice note

Algerian Darija has a lot of French in it, and other Arabs sometimes need a second to catch up. You list the languages you speak, and your 30 second voice intro tells people straight away if you are from Algiers, Oran, Constantine or Tizi Ouzou.

Prompts give you somewhere to start. "Summers back home meant…" gets answers about the beach in Béjaïa and the drive to the bled. "A wedding isn't a wedding without" gets a lot of karakou, henna nights and loud tbal.

When your mother wants the family name first

Your mother will ask what their family is like before she asks what they do. In a lot of Algerian homes the first serious step is still the families sitting down together, with a tray of makrout and very careful small talk.

You get to decide how close to that you want to start. Set your family involvement on your profile, and your goal too, whether that is marriage, something long term or friends.

Ramadan nights and summer back home

For a lot of Algerians here, the year runs on two things. Ramadan, with chorba on the table every night and qalb el louz from the bakery after. And summer, when half the community flies to Algiers or Oran and comes back with stories.

That makes good material for a profile. "My favorite part of Eid" and "First stop when I'm back home" are easy prompts to answer, and they tell someone more than "I like travel" ever will.

Questions

Can I say I'm Kabyle?
Yes. There is an optional community field, and Amazigh is on the list, so a Kabyle or Chaoui profile can show Algeria as the country and Amazigh as the community. Nobody can filter you out by it.
Is Tamazight one of the languages?
It is. Add Tamazight next to Arabic and French and people can see it on your profile.
I live in Montreal. Is HeyArab in Canada?
Yes. HeyArab is built for the US and Canada, and the app comes in French, so Quebec works fine.
