Child Safety Standards
Effective August 23, 2026
HeyArab is an adults-only dating app. You must be 18 or older to use it. There is no version of HeyArab for anyone younger, and there is no part of the app a minor is meant to see.
This page sets out how we prevent, detect, and respond to child sexual abuse and exploitation, which we refer to below as CSAE. It covers what we prohibit, how to report it, what we do when we find it, and how to reach us.
Zero tolerance for CSAE
We prohibit child sexual abuse material and any content or behavior that sexualizes a minor. This holds whether the material is a photo, a video, a voice intro, a drawing, text, or anything generated by AI, and whether or not a real child was involved in making it.
We also prohibit using HeyArab to groom, solicit, or arrange contact with a minor, to trade or advertise such material, or to describe past abuse in a way that promotes or normalizes it.
Keeping the app adults-only
Everyone signs up with a phone number and confirms they are 18 or older. Every profile photo is reviewed before it goes live, by automated checks and by a person when the automated check is unsure.
Members can verify their profile with a short selfie video that we compare against their photos. Verification is voluntary, but it makes an account that is pretending to be someone else harder to sustain.
If we find an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete the data associated with it. We do not need a report to act on this, and we do not need to be certain before we suspend an account while we check.
How to report a minor or CSAE
Every profile and every conversation in the app has a Report option. Choose "Underage user" for an account you believe belongs to someone under 18, or "Inappropriate content" for anything that sexualizes a minor. Reports go straight to our moderation queue.
You can also email safety@heyarab.app. If you are reporting something urgent, say so in the subject line and we will look at it first.
Reporting is confidential. The person you report is not told who reported them. You are never penalized for reporting something in good faith, even if we conclude no rule was broken.
What we do when we find it
We treat CSAE reports as the highest priority in the moderation queue, ahead of everything else.
- The reported account is suspended while we review, so nobody has to wait for us to finish before they are safe.
- Confirmed cases are banned permanently, and we take steps to stop the same person signing up again.
- We preserve the relevant account data and content as evidence rather than deleting it, so it is available to the authorities.
- We report to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children where US law requires it, and we cooperate with valid requests from law enforcement.
Legal compliance
We comply with applicable child safety laws in the places where HeyArab is available, including US federal reporting obligations for apparent child sexual abuse material.
We also follow Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy and Apple's App Store guidelines on this subject. Where a legal obligation and a platform rule differ, we follow whichever is stricter.
Point of contact
For questions about these standards, or for law enforcement and platform inquiries about a specific account, email safety@heyarab.app. A person reads it.
This is not the fastest route for an in-app report. If you are reporting a profile or a message, the Report option inside the app reaches the moderation queue directly and is quicker.
