Community Guidelines

HeyArab is a small, careful place for the Arab diaspora to meet. It only works if it feels safe, honest, and warm, like a living room and not a street corner. These guidelines are the deal we make with each other to keep it that way.

They apply everywhere on HeyArab: your profile, your photos, your voice intro, your messages. Break them and we may hide a profile, remove content, or close an account, quietly and without refund where our Terms allow.

Who HeyArab is for

HeyArab is for adults, 18 and older, looking to meet other adults. It is built around the Arab diaspora and the cultures within it, but everyone who joins in good faith and follows these guidelines is welcome.

This is a space for genuine connection: friendship, dating, marriage, whatever you are honest about wanting. It is not a place to sell, recruit, promote, or fundraise.

Be real

Use your own name, your own photos, and your own voice. One account per person.

No impersonating someone else, real or invented.
No photos that are not of you, are heavily filtered to mislead, or are years out of date.
No fake locations, ages, or intentions.
Photos must clearly show you. No nudity, no children, no images you do not have the right to use.

Vouches are a trust signal, not a popularity contest. Only invite people who actually know you, and never offer anything in exchange for a vouch.

Treat people with respect

A “no”, or simply no reply, is a complete answer. Move on with grace.

We have zero tolerance for

Harassment, threats, stalking, or repeated unwanted contact.
Hate or slurs based on religion, sect, ethnicity, nationality, gender, disability, or sexual orientation. Sectarian and regional bigotry included.
Sexual content sent without consent, and any sexualization of minors.
Insults aimed at someone’s family, faith, or background.

Stay safe

Most people here are who they say they are. A few are not. Protect yourself, especially early on.

Never send money, gift cards, or crypto to someone you met here, no matter the story. This is the most common scam.
Keep chats on HeyArab until you trust someone. Be wary of anyone rushing you onto another app.
Meet in public the first few times, and tell a friend where you are going.
Guard personal details like your home address, workplace, and financial information until trust is earned.

If someone pressures you for money, threatens you, or makes you feel unsafe, stop replying and report them. You will never be penalized for reporting in good faith.

What you share

Keep profiles, prompts, and voice intros free of the following:

Nudity, sexually explicit material, or graphic violence.
Contact details, social handles, or links used to pull people off-platform before matching.
Spam, advertising, MLM pitches, or solicitation of any kind.
Illegal content or anything promoting self-harm.

Reporting and blocking

Every profile and conversation has Block and Report options. Blocking is instant and silent. They are not told. Reporting sends the details to our moderation team for review.

What happens when guidelines are broken

Depending on severity and history, we may remove content, limit features, hide a profile from discovery, suspend an account, or ban it permanently. Serious cases like threats, fraud, and anything involving minors lead to an immediate ban and, where appropriate, a report to the authorities.

We review reports with context and care, but we do not owe a detailed explanation for every moderation decision, and we may act to protect the community before a full review.
