If you're an Arab Christian in North America, your church might be the only place you meet other Arab Christians, and you already know everyone there. Arab Christian dating is a small world. Here's how people make it bigger.

A lot of churches, not a lot of people

Arab Christians in the US and Canada come from many churches. Maronites and Melkites from Lebanon and Syria. Greek Orthodox from all over the Levant. Copts from Egypt. Chaldeans and Assyrians from Iraq. Syriac Orthodox, Armenian, Catholic and Protestant families too.

Each community is small, and most people already know each other through church, weddings and summer festivals. That's comforting until you're single and the only people your age are cousins, exes and your sister's friends.

Arab Christian dating usually means family is close

In a lot of Arab Christian families, marriage inside the church is still the hope, even when parents don't say it out loud. Others are fine with any Christian, or any good person. It differs a lot by family and generation.

The useful move is to know where you stand before you start. Is the same church important to you, or just the same faith? Would you raise kids in a specific church? Your answer shapes who you should be meeting.

Where Arab Christians meet

Church events, youth groups and community festivals are still the most common places. Weddings are a close second, and aunts are famous for using them as matchmaking events.

Dating apps have changed this. You can meet an Arab Christian from another city, or another church, who you would never have met at your own parish. You can also meet people outside your faith if you're open to it.

How HeyArab handles religion

On HeyArab, religion is on your profile if you want it there, and so is your church. The list has Maronite, Melkite, Greek Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox, Coptic Orthodox, Chaldean Catholic, Assyrian Church of the East, Catholic and Protestant. Filters are soft by default, so people outside them still show up further down. If faith is a deal breaker, turn on Dealbreaker and the religion filter becomes strict.

You can also set how involved your family is, and say what you're looking for: marriage, something long term, either, or friends. For community specific pages, see Lebanese singles in the US, Egyptian singles in the US and Iraqi singles in the US.
