Arabs pray in a lot of different ways, and some don't pray at all. HeyArab is for all of them. Here's how faith works on the app, and where to read more for your own situation.

For a lot of Arabs, Arab dating and religion come as a pair. Your faith shapes what your family expects and who you'll bring home. For others it barely comes up. HeyArab works either way.

Arab dating and religion on HeyArab

You can put your religion on your profile: Muslim, Christian, Druze, Jewish, other, or prefer not to say. Then add your sect or church if you want. The list runs from Sunni, Shia, Sufi and Ibadi to Maronite, Melkite, Greek Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox, Coptic Orthodox, Chaldean Catholic and the Assyrian Church of the East.

In your filters you pick which religions you want to see. There are two ways it can work:

SettingWhat happens
Soft (default)People in your filter come first. Everyone else shows up after them.
Dealbreaker onYou only see people in your filter, and people outside it don't see you.

Profiles also show what someone is looking for, from marriage to friends, and how involved their family is.

Guides by faith

  • Muslim: read a Muslim dating app for Arab singles for how the filters, family settings and privacy work for you.
  • Halal dating, what it usually means and how to keep it that way on an app: what is halal dating.
  • Christian, whether Maronite, Orthodox, Coptic, Chaldean and more: Arab Christian dating.
  • Druze: a small community where marrying inside it matters to many families. Pick Druze in your filter and turn on the dealbreaker if that's you.
  • Mixed sect or mixed faith, like Sunni and Shia, or Muslim and Christian: dating across sects.

If you want marriage soon

Some religious apps are built only for marriage. HeyArab lets you say you want marriage and add a timeline, but it doesn't push anyone there on day one. Read why we're not a marriage app, or see how we compare in our Muzz alternative guide.
